Turkish Delights

Sis Surpriz EP is out, and there’s nothing surprising about it. dEbruit has done it again. This talented Parisian-now-turned-Londoner beat head was by far one of the freshest producers to release music last year, and I’ve been waiting eagerly for his new EP ever since I’ve heard it’s preview mix (listen below) two months ago, and the wait is now over.

Always influenced from eastern and generally exotic sounds, this time around sees dEbruit looking for inspiration in the music that surrounded him in the Turkish neighborhood he was residing at in London. The 4 tracks here merge the sounds of authentic Turkish string instruments (wish I could identify them by name..), accordion, other folk instruments and lots of percussion with his unique flavor of tight beats, filthy synths and vocoders with the result sounding as dEbruit as ever.

dEbruit is apparently currently working on his debut LP, this time around sampling the sounds of West Africa, and based on what we’ve heard from him up to now, sounds like it’s most definitely worth waiting for.
